The Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) participated in the GlobeMeets B2B Networking Event in Istanbul, Turkey, strengthening relationships with travel trade professionals and showcasing Seychelles as a diverse destination offering experiences beyond its traditional honeymoon appeal.
Over the two-day event, STB held 65 B2B meetings with tour operators, travel agencies and tourism decision-makers from Turkey and other international markets, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Germany, Russia, Croatia, Cyprus and the United Kingdom.
The meetings highlighted growing interest in Seychelles across a wider range of travel segments, including couples, families, experiential travellers, nature and adventure seekers, and visitors looking for personalised and immersive holidays.
Island hopping emerged as a key area of interest, with several tour operators expressing interest in FAM trips and hotel inspections to experience the destination first-hand. Such visits would help travel professionals better understand the diversity of the islands, accommodation options and inter-island travel, enabling them to develop and sell more varied Seychelles itineraries.
STB also shared a list of local Destination Management Companies (DMCs) with participating agents to facilitate potential business connections and support future destination sales.
As part of the promotional activities, 150 copies of Aviation Turkey magazine were distributed to participating tourism professionals. The publication featured a dedicated 40-page Seychelles special, highlighting the destination’s accommodation, gastronomy, nature, island experiences and activities, while presenting Seychelles as more than a traditional luxury honeymoon destination.
Overall, GlobeMeets provided STB with a valuable platform to strengthen existing partnerships, establish new business connections and increase Seychelles’ visibility among qualified travel trade professionals. The strong interest in destination experiences, island hopping and FAM trips opportunities also demonstrated the potential to further position Seychelles as a diverse and experience-rich holiday destination.
Attending the event, STB Manager for the Turkish market, Mrs Amia Jovanovic-Desir, said she was pleased with the outcome of the meetings, which provided a valuable opportunity to promote Seychelles directly to travel trade professionals.
“I am very pleased with the outcome of our participation at GlobeMeets. The meetings gave us an excellent opportunity to engage directly with tour operators and travel agents, present Seychelles and highlight the wide range of experiences the destination offers. It was particularly encouraging to see interest in island hopping, FAM trips and opportunities to promote Seychelles to a broader range of travellers beyond the traditional honeymoon market. These conversations have opened the door to potential new partnerships and follow-up opportunities that can help us further strengthen Seychelles’ presence in the Turkish and wider international markets,” she said.
